I have written the following article as a guideline / outline of what your Select Server Hardware and Software Report should contain. Again, these articles are derived from the points under “Introduction” on the Power Point Slides. Be sure to always read the Reading Notes, and go back through the Power Point presentation again at least once. If you have any further questions that require answers, please feel free to ask.
Select Server Components
- Identify Server Components with Reference to Required Server Application and Server Features
- Clearly define the server application and features (what the server will be doing) and identify the server hardware and software required.
- Identify Product Specifications and Limitations
- What are the specifications and the limitations of the hardware and software selected above?
- Identify and Analyse System Interdependencies, Including Hardware Prior to Selection
- What are the system software interdependencies?
- What are the system hardware interdependencies?
- Provide Alternative Solutions with Reference to Required Application and Server Features
- Provide alternatives to your hardware and software selection.
- Account for any software and hardware interdependencies in your selection of alternative hardware and software.
The Reading Notes contain further information in regards to what is required in each of the four sections of your document above. If you are unsure of where the information in the Reading Notes is, please ask.
