Excerpts from a Cat’s Diary

Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In a small act of protest, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at my Captors”s feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a ‘good little hunter’ I am. If I was as large as my cousin, the tiger, I would eviscerate them both while they sleep.

There was some sort of assembly of the humans and their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of ‘allergies.’ I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow — but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other inmates here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird is certainly an informant. I observe him communicating in code with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now…

Remember: If you have something funny that you would like to see featured in The Weekly Funny, submit it to me or tell me about it via one of the many communication channels you have with me.

Certificate 1 – The Missing Notes

Actually Posted on 20 May 2008

Hi Everyone. I finally came across some notes and information that I have been searching for all semester! I know it is a little late in the day for some of this content, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to get it all up here and available. Below in the order we have covered the topics, are links to the relevant documents.

Please understand that not having these notes has not hindered the extent of information you are supposed to cover during this course. These are simply pre-created notes that would otherwise replace the links, websites and guides that I have been creating for you.

Operate a Personal Computer

Start and Shutdown a Computer

Access Basic System Information

Navigate and Manipulate a Computer Desktop Environment

Organise Folders and Files

Print Information

Send and Retrieve Information over the Internet Using Browsers and Email

Access The Internet

Search The Internet

Use Email

Organise Email

Remember; I put these links and resources here for your use. So if they are of no use to you, too hard to understand or you feel they are off topic, then please let me know, via any of the communication channels you have with me. I am more then happy to make changes, source better content or even create fresh content from scratch, just for you! You need only ask … nicely!

Certificate 1 – Week 10

Actually Posted on 20 May 2008

This week we began a new module called “Maintain System Integrity”.

To briefly re-iterate the last few weeks:

During our first term of this semester (weeks 1 through to week 7), we covered one module called Operate a Personal Computer. We should have covered two modules in that time, but I felt some further groundwork with the group was required to be able to take on the modules that follow.

Over the first two weeks of this second term (weeks 8 and 9) we covered the module “Send and Retrieve Information using Browsers and Email”. You will find that the notes will cover some extra areas that I did not cover with you. You are welcome to use the notes in your own time for self learning. If time allows, I will go back and cover a few additional points from the reading notes.

It should be noted that what I have covered with you already, is what is required by the course syllabus. I have gone outside the scope of the syllabus where convenient and relevant to you. You will find that the reading notes do go outside the scope of some things we have covered, but they also assume a more technical environment.

We began “Maintain System Integrity” in Week 10.
