Certificate 1 – Week 11

Actually Posted on 26th May 2008

Hi everyone. This week we talked at length about System Integrity, and preventing Spyware, Adware and Viruses from accessing our computers. We also discussed the prevention of SPAM, and the possible software solutions available, to help us against the threats these present. Below are some Wikipedia links in regards to the topics we discussed. I have not been successful in discovering any pre-created notes for this topic, sorry. I suggest you read up on the Wikipedia links instead.

Spyware

Adware

Viruses

Malware

SPAM

The articles above are all well worth reading. If you feel like you need some notes on this weeks discussion, then I suggest you print these.

I know it sounds like I am a sales person for Comodo and a Defamation Officer representing all other ISPs except BigPond and Optus, but for those of you looking for links to the Comodo Software I speak of, here they are below.

Comodo – Free Products Page

Microsoft Windows Defender

Safer Network – Spybot Search and Destroy (Spybot S+D)

Lavasoft – Adaware

MozillaFirefox and Thunderbird

Remember! A really easy way to begin the prevention of all these aliments, is to stop using Internet Explorer and Outlook Express! Use Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird instead! Comodo also has a really great program to help fight SPAM.

Next Week, we will discuss Software Integrity.

Remember; I put these links and resources here for your use. So if they are of no use to you, too hard to understand or you feel they are off topic, then please let me know, via any of the communication channels you have with me. I am more then happy to make changes, source better content or even create fresh content from scratch, just for you! You need only ask … nicely!

Digital Media – Week 12

Actually Posted on 26th May 2008

Hi Everyone. This week we continued working on our PowerPoint presentation, by animating some of our characters, to give some more life to our story. We will continue this again in our next session, and hopefully finish it.

If you have lost your PowerPoint presentation, or things don’t seem to be happening as they for you, you can download a copy of my latest version below.

My Wild Adventure – A PowerPoint Presentation

I also handed out the first couple of chapters (printed) of a Photoshop Book known as “The Photoshop Anthology”. The entire book is over 270 pages long, so I couldn’t possibly print a full copy for each of you (16×135=2165 – That’s over two reams of paper!), however you are welcome to download a full copy of the book at either of the following links.

Site Point – Official Download Link Use this link first. They did write and publish it after all.

Mokona Modoki – Click Here if the above link does not work

You are welcome to print a copy of this book at home if you wish.

If you do not have a copy of the printed version that I handed out, please ask me for a copy at our next session. We are working through the first chapters, during our first half hour of the session (6:00pm – 6:30pm), until the end of the term.
